What some of our Clients say
about 356 Carburetor Rescue!
This appeared on the 356 Registry Chat List, August 1, 2007 - Thanks for the kind
words Bill!!
THANK YOU JOHN JENKINS FOR MY REBUILT ZENITH CARBS
I wanted to take the opportunity to publicly thank John for his work on
my masterfully restored (much better than rebuilt) Zenith 332NDX
carburetors for my 62 Roadster. Before he applied his artful expertise
the carbs leaked, were always covered with a varnish, and did not allow
the car to idle or accelerate properly. He restored or replaced every
screw, nut, spring or valve. The carbs are gorgeous.
In addition to being pretty, the carbs perform. My car now idles
steadily at 700 RPMs. It accelerates evenly with no hesitations or
stumbles. And best of all, it starts immediately, even after setting for
weeks.
I contacted John from the information listed on our 356Registry website
on the vendor page under special services. He is very easy to contact
and returned my carbs very quickly.

Check out this engine!! Congratulations on your Concours wins Tom!
Hi John, attached are three photos of the Roadster engine. The car won
first in the full concours 356 class and 356 division at the San Diego Parade
and first in the full concours class and best of show at the Dana Point
concours, July 8, 2007. You can use this as a reference however you
would like. When we started the engine for the first time we only cranked
the starter for about five seconds and then made very minor mixture
adjustments.
Thanks for a great job.
Tom

Finished installing the carbs this afternoon. Car has never run this
good. Good power throughout the rev band. Much better pull at
low RPM. Rock solid idle. The only problem I had is that I
discovered after installation that the front air mixture screw on the
left side was bent. Don't know if I did it during installation or if it
was shipping damage. Would be awful easy to hit that screw with
the wrench when I was tightening the carb down. I replaced the
bent screw with one from the old carb and everything worked well.
The carbs I return will be missing one air mixture screw. The only
thing I am a little perturbed about is that I should have done this a
year ago. Thanks, great job. Jim Peden

Last week Thursday we installed the newly remanufactured Solex carbs
from 356 Carb Rescue and do they ever make the car run just as sweet as
they physically look. Bluntly, the only mistake made was not doing it
sooner!. . . I pass this on in the chance that someone might be asking for
your advise & being that Induction is certainly one of the elements for any
proper running motor, it might help if they know it has made a world of
improvement on my '68 912.

When I picked up my 912 in CA last April, there was only 750 aprox miles
on a fresh motor,,, my nephew said as it added miles they were expecting I
would likely get 30 to 33 MPG on the highway. Never happened, 26 & 27
was the best I ever got until your carbs were installed. Drum Roll & que the
Rocketts,,,,, a solid 35 miles per gallon was recorded this week on a drive to
& from Savannah, GA. Thank You 356 Carb Rescue!
Received 3/27/2009 in reference to a set of our NEW Zenith Rebuild Plus
carbs
Hello!
We received the carbs a couple day's ago... and have since installed them with
great success... no drips, runs, or leaks... and the improvement has made a
thousand percent difference!
In fact, it may have extended my 72 year old fathers life a couple years, as he is
very excited... and very thankful for your help.... as am I!
Many thanks!

July 20, 2010 Tom Scott sent us the following. This is the second car of
Tom's we've worked on. His comments on his Roadster (with pictures) are

Hi John & Jim,
Just a quick note to let you know that I showed by 1957 Speedster at the recent
PCA Parade in St. Charles, Illinois, a couple of weeks ago and it won first place in the
356 full restoration class, division and group, thanks in part to your work on the
carburetors. There were no points deducted on anything in the engine
compartment! Please feel free to advertise that your carburetor restorations are
used on world class cars and you can use me as a reference anytime.
Thanks again,
Tom Scott

Subject: Re: finished carbs
Hi Jim, It's been a little while, about a month now. I've been waiting to see if there
would be any changes, but NO-----EVERYTHING IS FINE!
My NO. 1 comment at this point is "HOW DID YOU DO THAT"?
I carefully noted the positions of the adjusting screws as the carbs came back to me, I
put the carbs on the car , then after adding a couple gallons of fresh , new gas to the
clean , dry tank, I started the car. It was relatively easy to start and began idling at
about 600 or 700 RPMs. SMOOTH AS A KITTEN
That's the way , left it. There has been NO reason to change any of the settings , I
have checked them all , mixture , balance , etc. Followed your instruction.
. Every thing is back to exactly where YOU had it. and so far NO LEAKS----- NO
GAS SEEPAGE. GREAT , you are to be commended.
I want to thank you and your staff for a job "WELL DONE" I'll tell you . I have a lot
of contacts in the 356 community and I'm going to let them know
my story. Thanks again, and again I say "HOW DID YOU DO THAT ?"

Subject: Photos of Carbs installed
I know you most likely get a lot of photos, but here are more of the nice job you did on
rebuilding the carbs for my 912. Without companies like yours and your passion for
what you do, our cars would be reduced to a pile of rubble. Please enjoy the pictures.
Thanks for your commitment to the hobby.
